Panchromatic Ilford HP3 (type 120)
This is my favourite roll in this batch. Everyone seems so happy posing for the camera. One nice summer day three generations from one family attended a musical event. The pictures are taken during and after the performance.
Ilford HP3 roll film was produced from 1941 to 1969. Ilford Manual of Photography published in 1945 still lists this film as Selo H.P.3 (Hypersensitive Panchromatic). According to Ilford Chronology on photomemorabilia.co.uk Selo name was dropped around 1946 and 'H.P.3' was written without stops (HP3) within the next couple of years. So we narrowed the time interval to 1950s to late 1960s.
The roll is developed in Barry Thornton's Two-Bath developer (4.5 min + 4.5 min). Nine half-frame images (6 x 4.5 cm) were shot on the roll. Despite the age of the film and its high speed it preserved the latent images very well. This is the second roll of Ilford HP3 that I processed. The first was stored in a tin shed in South Australia for at least a decade and still had useable images.
